My review
I've used two of these sites with great success (YC, GGF).
For those that complain about fees you have to remember what these websites are doing for you. They're making it easy as possible to collect money and doing so by bank transfer or by collecting cash from individuals just isn't as efficient and I'm sure we would not have raised as much money otherwise.
You are paying for a service and rightly so these platforms should be compensated. we live in a world where we expect everything online to be free but if you haven't seen yet all that does is lead to the plastering of adverts. Our experience was positive on both occasions and we would be happy to do it again
Tried two of these
I tried GFM and GGF in the past and neither particularly impressed me. First of all I felt the fees were excessive. Support was decent, especially at GGF but for something like this telephone support is essential.
They should also have the option to make Bank transfers, some people still prefer to pay this way and I don't think any of the sites support it.
Thanks
Very useful to help me figure out where to post my campaign-thanks!
They suck
All these sites suck, you always need to share and just end up getting donations from people you know
Response: Crowdfunding sites are engineered to help you raise more money from the people you know (& sometimes beyond) than if you were to go and try to do it alone
